2010 - First Full-HD 3D contribution link
ATEME enabled the transmission of a full-HD stereoscopic 3D signal during the semi-final event of the “French-idol” in May 2010. The two views were compressed in AVC/H.264 at 30Mbps using synchronized Kyrion encoders and distributed via satellite to several networks and locations, including a movie theater. Thanks to the work performed on synchronization, this event allowed a field demonstration of the theoretical quality gains of full-HD 3D over frame compatible technologies such as Side-by-Side and Top-and-Bottom.
