2007 - First AVC/H.264 SuperHivision encoding system

ATEME participated in the Japanese SuperHiVision program by providing the first AVC/H.264 encoding system. It enabled live transmission of the 8K by 4K video signal @ 70Mbps with a single DVB-S2 transponder. The system used 16 synchronized 2nd generation Kyrion encoders, each one processing a 2K tile. A 1080p60 AVC/H.264 encoder was also developed for NHK during this program. It was probably also the first time this technology was made available.
