The 2006 French open tennis tournament was for ATEME an important landmark: A major live event was distributed over IP to millions of Free Telecom subscribers in High Definition for the first time. This was achieved using our first generation Kyrion encoder configured at an unprecedented low bit-rate of 5.2Mbps. Decoding was possible simultaneously on subscriber set-top-boxes and on PC, making it one of the first “converged” HD events ever.
